The Onion launches an online newscast

I caught this news on Nightline yesterday. Interestingly, the Onion apparently made $18 million in ad revenue last year and they figured there's money to be made by adding video to their stable. They are also open to people sharing their content on sites like youtube if the advertising is included.

Watched everything they had up. It's a spot on satire of cable news and the clips they have up are very funny.

It will be interesting to see how this does in comparison to The Daily Show and The Colbert Report clips online. People already tend to hack those down and post the best 2-3 minute bits. While Comedy Central's ownership goes back and forth about how bothered they are about this, The Onion is already packaging commercials with their content in this snack-sized model.
